If you are looking for a DFW maternity photographer, I would absolutely love to be considered! I am a DFW motherhood photographer, encompassing everything motherhood, starting with maternity. If my crazy life of having 4 kids would allow it I would also do birth photography because I so enjoy the entire process of growing and creating new life; it’s just such a precious gift!

When should I schedule my maternity photos with my DFW maternity photographer?

As a general rule of thumb, I like to schedule your maternity session shortly after you’ve told friends and family the exciting news! This will give us plenty of time to meet, see the studio, pick out or order a dress for your maternity session, and register for newborn photography if you are interested in that as well. Maternity photos are typically taken when you’re showing big — generally around 32-36 weeks into your pregnancy. We want a cute, big, round belly! And don’t worry I have photoshop tools to make sure you look your best! :p

How many outfits should I bring to my maternity session?

If you have your own outfits for your maternity session that is amazing! However, I as your DFW maternity photographer have plenty of couture maternity gowns for you to choose from for your session as well, from places like Katharina Hakaj Couture, Mii-Estilo and AR Backdrops to name a few. Typically, two to four outfits for your maternity session is a good number to plan on. I like to always have at least two for variety’s sake, but whether you want to wear more than that is up to you!

What should I consider when planning maternity outfits?

My biggest piece of advice is to wear something you feel both comfortable and beautiful in. Choose a color you love to wear or that goes with the aesthetic of where you will be printing the photos and displaying them. My second recommendation is to have an option that is form-fitting enough to showcase your baby bump. Once again, I as your DFW maternity photographer have couture gowns and options for all of these recommendations. Lastly, wear skin colored panties or thong and a supportive, well-fitting strapless bra. Between us ladies, I know that breasts change a lot during pregnancy, so pick up a new bra that fits immaculately before our session to avoid discomfort and any lumps or bumps!

Where do we take the photographs?

Where we take photographs depends on the type of session we’re shooting. My favorite option for maternity is in the studio for GLAM (glowing like a mother) shoots! These sessions allow for multiple changes and options and a more portrait like experience. For family maternity with kiddos, I like to do on-location, outdoor photographs that let us maximize our access to natural light and allow the kids to be themselves. This can be in a beautiful pasture, quaint park, in the woods or even in urban settings. However, if you would like a studio portrait session with the kids, we can do that and they turn out beautifully as well. As your DFW maternity photographer, my goal is to give you the images and memories that fit YOU!

Can my partner or child be in the photographs, too?

Of course! I love incorporating mom, dad and your other children into our maternity session pictures. While in most cases you and dad will be the stars of the day, I believe it’s so important to have several photographs with the entire family. A lot of my moms also choose to wait and have the photos of the whole family at the newborn session when your little one is here and your family is complete, for your first family photo.

If you still have more questions I would love to answer those and ease this process for you; and if these FAQs have answered all your questions and your ready to schedule a consultation, you can contact me here!
